Margaretville stuns South Kortright/Andes, claims 2025 DL Champ title
DELHI — For the first time in over a decade, the Margaretville Blue Devils sit atop the Delaware League.
Led by a dominant 25-point performance from Ryan Sanford, Margaretville defeated South Kortright/Andes 57-46 in the Delaware League Championship on Thursday Feb. 20 at SUNY Delhi, snapping the Rams’ nine-year title game winning streak and securing the program’s first league crown since 2013.
The Blue Devils came out firing, using a balanced offensive attack and stifling defense to build a lead they never relinquished. Connor Wayman added 15 points, while Hunter Balcom chipped in 12, helping Margaretville control the pace against the perennial league powerhouse.
JB Trimbell led South Kortright/Andes with 13 points, while Lance McClure contributed 10 and Jack Byrne added 8. Despite a late push by the Rams, Margaretville maintained its composure, closing out the game with strong free-throw shooting and disciplined play.
